FIR filter design using frequency sampling method

The aim of the experiment was to design digital filter using frequency sampling method. The magnitude and phase spectrum were plotted for LPF and HPF.
It was observed that the phase plot is similar. Also, if the order of LPF and HPF are same, then the phase plot for both the filters is also same. The observed and calculated values of As and Ap were verified.

  1. FSM is computationally more efficient.

  2. I think that the phase plot for same order LPF and HPF will be similar and not same. It appears so because of the discontinuity observed at magnitude 0 and phase tries to be in the range of pi to -pi.

  3. FSM is better as it requires less computation

  4. for the same values of attenuation in stop band and pass band, pass band and stop band frequencies and sampling frequencies the order of the FIR filter is much higher compared to that of the IIR filter.

  5. Mathematically, FSM is very efficient but the practical implementation is not as simple.
